Vehicle and Machinery Rescue Technician is a course designed to train rescuers in commercial or heavy vehicle and machinery rescue. This course will meet or exceed NFPA 1006 requirements. It will teach the students the basic and advanced concepts of Vehicle and Machinery Rescue: scene size up, identifying hazards, stabilization of commercial vehicles and machinery, entry and egress techniques, disentanglement techniques, tool usage, patient packaging and removal. Emphasis will be placed on rescuer and victim safety, proper tool selection and usage and utilizing a multi-step approach to extrication planning.

Description: 

This course provides the student with the necessary skills to conduct operations at technical rescue incidents safely and effectively based on hazard analysis, risk assessment, training level of personnel, and availability of internal and external resources. Students will be exposed to the operations level response to structural collapse incident and the course will involve working with power saws and basic construction equipment.  You will learn to identify structural collapse incidents and how to construct basic shoring systems to deal with windows, doors, sloped floors and exterior walls. At the successful completion of the operations level, the candidate will have an understanding of the functions and developments of NFPA 1670 for Structural Collapse Rescue.
